And how Charlotte & Omar’s destination celebration brought it all to life
There’s something about film photography that just hits differently. The softness. The grain. The way it captures light with a kind of magic that doesn’t need filters or retouching to feel timeless.
When Charlotte and Omar flew me out for their intimate destination wedding, they told me they wanted to keep things intentional, stylish, and deeply personal. It wasn’t about a big production—it was about presence, family, and celebrating in a way that felt true to them. So when they asked if I could shoot part of the day on film, I couldn’t say yes fast enough.
A Micro Wedding That Felt Like a Movie
They brought their closest people to a small, stunning resort nestled right along the coastline. It was one of those places where time slows down—where the breeze always smells like salt and the colours are just a little more vivid. The resort went above and beyond: fresh florals and greenery picked straight from the grounds, coconuts with their names carved into them, and a last-minute surprise reception upgrade to a luxe private resort down the road that happened to be vacant. Pool. Hot tub. Private chef. The works.
Every detail of the day was soaked in joy—from the bespoke cocktails and hand-rolled cigars to the dancing that didn’t stop until long after sunset. And through it all, I shot both digital and film—knowing the latter would give them something uniquely nostalgic, like a memory already aged to perfection.

Why Choose Film for Your Wedding Day?
Film isn’t better than digital. It’s different. And that difference can elevate your gallery in the most romantic way.
Here’s what I mean:
It’s dreamy by nature.
Film captures light and skin tones with a softness that digital tries to replicate, but never quite can. There’s a painterly, luminous quality to it—like your memories already wrapped in nostalgia. It slows everything down.
Unlike digital, film photography is intentional. Each frame counts. That means I’m shooting with even more care, watching for small moments you’ll want to relive—not just rapid-firing through the scene. It’s timeless.
Film doesn’t go out of style. Your wedding photos won’t feel trendy or overly edited—they’ll feel classic in the truest sense of the word.It surprises you.
There’s always a bit of magic and mystery with film. You don’t see the images right away. You wait. And when they come back, they feel more like heirlooms than files. Charlotte and Omar were thrilled when their scans came through—some moments looked exactly how they remembered, others even better.
A Quick Note on Traveling with Film
Yes, I had to fight with TSA to keep my rolls safe from x-rays (and yes, I was that person asking for hand checks at security). But I brought my Mamiya 645 medium format camera, packed extra rolls, and made sure we had the right light to make the most of it. It was absolutely worth it.
And if you’re considering film for your wedding? I’ll handle all of that for you—from packing, to planning, to scanning. All you need to do is show up and trust the process.

Charlotte and Omar didn’t just give me the honour of documenting their day—they gave me the gift of trust, connection, and creative freedom. We laughed, danced, swam, and celebrated until late into the night. I photographed their wedding, but I also gained lifelong friends.
Film was the perfect way to reflect that kind of story: intimate, golden, and unforgettable.
