Everything That Styled Shoots Have Taught Me About Weddings – Le Peaches and Cream

I’ve been a photographer for over a decade, and I’ve been lucky enough to have many experiences that taught me about photographing weddings! Styled shoots are such a valuable experience. These shoots are elaborate photoshoots where vendors come together to create content to market themselves. Each vendor contributes their craft to the shoot, whether cake baking, photography, makeup, decor, or anything wedding-related.

Small weddings can feel just as luxurious.

Styled shoots are HARD to put together because they take a lot of planning and time, and they’re usually pretty small! Typically we’ll only have a couple to model, and rarely, a handful of “guests” as well! This shoot had an unreal group of talented vendors; it was more significant than most, thanks to the incredible planner who put the hours into making this happen.

These shoots often showcase what micro weddings can be like and are always stunning. This is where all of the Pinterest dream weddings come from! It’s a common myth that people assume small weddings won’t feel as luxe or as glamorous as larger ones, but frankly, that’s bull! Having a smaller guest count often means that couples can invest more into their vendors and decor to create something truly unique and magazine-worthy.

The right vendors make a world of difference.

I’ve mentioned it before, but vendor selection determines how your wedding will go! These beautiful businesses and creatives work hard to make your wedding day extra special, and the right vendors will bring your vision to life. If it’s within your means, don’t be afraid to splurge on your dream team, it’s WORTH it!

When planning your wedding day, I always recommend sitting down with your spouse-to-be and discussing what vendors matter most to you and booking them first. If you’re a big foodie and want a memorable meal, spend those extra dollars on the deluxe catering package. If photos are something you value, invest in that area!

Don’t be afraid to get creative!

It is YOUR wedding day, and you can make it whatever the hell you want it to be! One of the best parts of styled shoots is seeing vendors get creative with their craft! Since there isn’t an actual couple paying us to be there, we get to bring our wildest visions to life! This opportunity to let loose and follow our hearts.

I think couples should trust their vendors and allow them more creative freedom.

Follow your bliss, get creative, and do everything you want! Use disco balls in your centrepieces, and get married abroad in the destination wedding of your dreams. It’s your day, and it’s your love story! Showcase it in a way YOU want and your wedding will be just as beautiful as one of these styled shoots.
