Arnprior Cottage Elopement – Sara + Cole

When Sarah and Cole first reached out to me and said they were going to have a cottage elopement, I knew it was going to be amazing. They mentioned that they have three dogs and that they were going to get hitched at their family cottage, I instantly got excited about sharing their beautiful day.

Cottage Elopement!

Often mistaken for “secret wedding”, elopements are more often than not more about the couple and how they want to spend their day. Commonly, there are only two “guests” to serve as witnesses. As customizable as they come, elopements can have a very loose timeline, location and budget.

These super unique and intimate gatherings are becoming more popular. As a result, my love for them has grown exponentially during the COVID-19 Pandemic. I enjoy them primarily because they bring the focus back onto what’s most important during a wedding: the couple.

The biggest advantage to an elopement is the ability to do it literally anywhere and anytime. Wan to get married at the top of a mountain with custom vows? How about a lakeside cottage scene with an elaborate floral arch? Why not get married right by a waterfall with a few of your favourite people? You can whatever you want for an elopement and adore that each one is different and unique to the couple.

Getting out to their tucked away cottage was a little difficult. However, when Cori and I trailed down the small path and came across a super cute cottage with dogs running around, we knew we were in the right place.

Lakeside Ceremony

Sara and Cole met at an Arkells concert in Kingston three years ago. She said that there was a connection from the first time they hugged.

They decided to do a Lakeside Ceremony. It was the PERFECT day for them, the sun came out and despite a cool fall breeze, it was actually quite warm. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, as well as about 5 dogs,  Sara and Cole tied the knot on the dock.

They call the beautiful cottage the popsicle brigade. There was little popsicle details everywhere. Both of them have popsicle pendants around their necks, Sara even had a popsicle flask!

After a wonderfully intimate ceremony by the water, we walked the grounds and they told me all about their memories on ” the peak”. All the neighbours that surround them share their lakefront propertied.

It was truly a stunning wedding day with wonderful people and I will continue to be obsessed with Cottage Elopements.

As always, the vendors involved went a long way to helping the day stay unique and beautiful.
